Putney Hill
London SW15This project involved the construction of an extension at ground floor level providing additional living space and access to the rear garden.
The unusual elliptical shape of the building presented many challenges from the initial piling and ground works up to the double glazed truncated conical roof light.
The demands of the design brief required very close liaison between the architect, project team and specialist sub contractors. The base construction consisted of a curved insulated timber frame clad externally in specially curved cedar tongue and groove boarding.
All doors and windows were double glazed in Iroko frames. The roof was a timber structure weathered externally in lead and plastered internally.
The internal walls and floor were clad in bamboo slats with underfloor heating. On completion the exteriors was landscaped with paving and soft plantings. Project time on site was 20 weeks.
